I can't help it, I just enjoy learning!
Hopefully this breakdown will help:
Dr. Marita Black, PT, DPT, PCS, CEIM
- PT = Physical Therapist: Education to become a PT involves 3-4 years of undergraduate study, followed by 3-4 years of graduate studies for Physical Therapy which includes didactic as well as clinical work.
- DPT = Doctor of Physical Therapy: After I received my Master's in Physical Therapy, I went back for more graduate education to receive my Doctorate.
- PCS = Pediatric Certification Specialist: After I practiced PT for six years, mainly in Pediatrics (although I treat all ages), I studied for approximately 9 months and then took the day long exam to become Board Certified in Pediatric Physical Therapy.
- CEIM = Certified Educator of Infant Massage: This certificate program involved a week long class as well as months of hands on practice and written components which certified me through Infant Massage USA.
